Signs and Symptoms of Hearing Loss

 Signs and symptoms of hearing loss may include, but are not limited to:

  • The feeling that people are mumbling when they are talking
  • Difficulty hearing or understanding conversation in background noise
  • Frequently asking people to repeat what they are saying
  • Asking others to speak more slowly, clearly or loudly
  • Agreeing or nodding your head in conversation when you're not sure what's been said
  • Withdrawal from conversations
  • Avoidance of  some social settings
  • Reading lips in order to follow what people are saying
  • Requiring the TV or radio volume to be "turned up"
  • Difficulty understanding on the telephone
  • Difficulty hearing certain environmental sounds, i.e.- birds chirping
  • Tinnitus
